Jerry has found success in life through a variety of ventures over the past 35+ years of his life. He spent time in the Army, including a tour of Vietnam as a reconnaissance team leader with the 101st Airborne Division. Upon his return to civilian life, he graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Business Administration/Marketing. He then began a 30-year career with Sears. This allowed him opportunities in different management assignments throughout Utah, Idaho, and Colorado. He finished his career with Sears as the Store Manager of the Sears Chapel Hills here in Colorado Springs. He was recognized as MVP of "B" stores, and MVP of "A" stores during his service to the company.
Upon his retirement in 2002, Jerry decided to focus on something that could impact those around him positively. He especially wanted to help young families have the resources, finances, and ability to own a home and spend time with their loved ones. Having been a homeowner since 1975, he knew his experiences and knowledge could be of benefit to others. He accepted a position with First State Bank as a loan officer. He found he loved the personal interaction with clients and received great satisfaction in helping families make home ownership a reality. He was successful in helping people find the right mortgage product that would meet their short term and long term financial goals. During this time, he became First State Bank's Top Loan Officer. He was then recruited by a couple of other Mortgage professionals, but eventually decided to break off with his Business partner Daniel Shepard to open up a branch of their very own. In January, Jerry and Daniel, opened their new branch office with 1st Metropolitan. Both Jerry and Daniel assumed ownership roles as Branch managers and have quickly brought the team up to speed. As dominant forces in the lending markets they have been able to provide the necessary solutions to make homeownership a reality for thousands of people in Colorado. Jerry believes in taking care of his clients by first finding out what they want to accomplish, then finding programs that mesh best with those goals.
Jerry and his wife, Julie, have lived in the Springs since 1995. They fell in love with this area and the people, and have decided to make this their permanent home. They have four adult children: Jeremy, Joshua (married to Karen Lockard) They have 4+ children (Josh Jr, Ben, Brooklyn, Savannah, and another baby girl due in June), Jaimee (married to Daniel Shepard) They have a little baby daughter, Matteah), and Jordan (married to Erin Dixon). They all live and work here in the Springs, and the family enjoys spending time together playing games, bowling, golfing, and watching the grandkids in their sports and activities.
